Prof Jibril O. Abdulmalik is a Consultant Psychiatrist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, and a Professor of Psychiatry and Global Mental Health at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. In addition to his Clinical Fellowship as a Consultant Psychiatrist, he also earned three Master's degrees in the areas of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (Ibadan, Nigeria), International Mental Health Policy and Services (Lisbon, Portugal), and Health Management and Planning (Maiduguri, Nigeria).

He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and the Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Fellowship of the Africa CDC, as well as numerous other prestigious international fellowships and awards. He has published over a hundred scholarly articles and books. He also contributes a weekly mental health column in a national daily, the Nigerian Tribune, since 2016.

With over two decades in the public mental health space, his driving passion is to contribute towards the improvement of global mental health across the lifespan. He is a strong advocate for increased public mental health literacy, service user empowerment, improved and accessible mental health services, and mental health policy.
